Susanna Mälkki conducts the Orchestre de Paris for the first time this week, leading the ensemble in two great masterworks by composers from the turn of the century. On September 25 & 26 at the Philharmonie de Paris, the program will begin with Dvořák’s Cello Concerto, the last solo concerto by the composer and one of the most revered of the cello repertoire, featuring Edgar Moreau.

Concluding, Mälkki conducts Holst’s perennially popular work, The Planets, a suite that represents all the known planets of the Solar System seen from Earth at the time, and their corresponding astrological character, featuring the Jeune Chœur de Paris and Maîtrise de Paris.
