July concerts in Tokyo and Seoul

Susanna Mälkki travels to Japan this summer to conduct the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra on July 17 and 18 at Suntory Hall. The first piece of the program will be Dukas’ Prelude to Act 3 from “Ariane et Barbe-bleue”, followed by Debussy’ Nuages and Fêtes from “Nocturnes”. The evenings will wrap up with
Bartók’ Bluebeard’s Castle with John Relyea and Szilvia Vörös as the soloists.

She then travels to South Korea, where she will lead the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. Pierre-Laurent Aimard will play Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 3, which will be followed by Schubert’s Symphony No. 9. These performances take place on July 23 and 24 at Lotte Concert Hall.
