Susanna Mälkki conducts two programmes with the San Francisco Symphony at Davies Symphony Hall over the coming fortnight.
The first programme features works by Mussorgsky and Prokofiev, as well as Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto with Christian Tetzlaff, with concerts on 15, 16, 17 and 18 October. For her second week of concerts (22, 23 and 24 October), Mälkki conducts works by her fellow countrymen Tiensuu and Sibelius and also collaborates with soloist Simon Trpčeski for Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.1.
This is Mälkki’s third visit to the orchestra since her acclaimed debut in 2012. Other North American highlights this season include returns to the Chicago and New World symphony orchestras in spring 2016.
