On August 24, an extraordinary musical event will take center stage at the Helsinki Festival as Susanna Mälkki conducts the Finnish Symphony Radio Orchestra in the world premiere of Kaija Saariaho’s composition, HUSH. Featuring trumpeter Verneri Pohjola, this performance holds a unique significance as it marks the debut of the late Saariaho’s final work, commissioned jointly by the Helsinki Festival, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Asko|Schönberg. In addition to HUSH, the program will include Gustav Mahler’s final symphony, No. 9, tying the two momentous works together.

This performance will be available to stream through the Yleisradio Oy website.
