On December 3, Susanna Mälkki will lead the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra in a thrilling program featuring Szymanowski’s luxuriant Concert Ouverture, a work that highlighted modern Polish music, and Dvořák’s cheery and lyrical Symphony No. 8, inspired by the Czech folk music that he loved.

Completing the program, pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard, hailed as “A brilliant musician and an extraordinary visionary” (Wall Street Journal), will perform Schönberg’s Piano Concerto. This lively work shows how colorful twelve-tone music can be.
