On Friday, April 23, at 8pm CET, Teatro alla Scala will stream a concert with Susanna Mälkki conducting the Teatro alla Scala Orchestra in an exquisite program of works by Strauss, Ravel, and Beethoven. In 2011 Mälkki made her debut at Teatro alla Scala, Milan, making her the first woman to conduct a production there in the company’s history. The program begins with Strauss’s elegant Serenade in E flat major op. 7, which he composed at seventeen years old. Ravel’s delightful Ma mère l’oye follows, conjuring exquisite orchestral textures in this Mother Goose tale, and Beethoven’s high-spirited First Symphony concludes the program.

Stream the concert via www.teatroallascala.org, the La Scala Facebook and YouTube channels, on Friday 23 April at 8pm CET.
