For her last concert of the 2018-19 season with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Susanna Mälkki leads the ensemble and star violinist Isabelle Faust in a riveting program featuring Czech composer Ondřej Adámek’s newest work, Follow me – concerto for violin and orchestra, as well as Sibelius’ Satu / En Saga, and Bartók’s Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta.

On May 24, Ms. Faust brings to life previously unheard tonal colors that are inspired by the shouts of indigenous peoples and the unpredictability of the human mind in Adámek’s Follow me. Sibelius’ tone poem for orchestra Satu / En Saga proceeds Bartók’s Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta. One of the best-known compositions by the composer, this lead to the use of themes from the work in films and popular music like Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. The concert will be live-streamed online May 25 at 19:00.
