Susanna Mälkki leads the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra in concerts on February 28 & March 1, at the DR Koncerthuset. Described as “a brilliant interpreter of new music”, Mälkki conducts Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, a gripping and magical five-movement work that Bartók composed in 1944 as a Hungarian refugee in the United States.

Completing the program is the Denmark premiere of Fredrik Högberg’s Baboon Concerto, a playful, fourteen-movement work for bassoon soloist and full orchestra. Co-commissioned by the Swedish Radio P2, the DR Symphony Orchestra and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Högberg wrote this work for the DR Symphony Orchestra’s own bassoon soloist, Sebastian Stevensson.
