Susanna Mälkki ends her second season as chief conductor of the Helsinki Philharmonic with a performance at the Helsinki Music Centre and a tour to Salzburg and Paris. On May 18, Mälkki leads the Helsinki Philharmonic with Norwegian cellist Truls Mørk in an thrilling program of Webern’s Six Pieces for Orchestra, Elgar’s Cello Concerto, and Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra. 

Soon after, the Helsinki Philharmonic will start their tour with performances in Salzburg on May 23, 24, & 25 at the Grosses Festspielhaus with cellist Truls Mørk. The tour will end with a performance in Paris at La Seine Musicale on May 27. Mälkki and the orchestra will perform Gustav Mahler’s breathtaking final symphony No. 9.
